E is for Ego

An ego is something you're born with and I think we hold onto much of it when we fail to develop compassion and humility. It's that thing inside that is rewarded when your parents do everything to make sure you're happy and getting everything you need, and some of the things you don't, like constant attention and pampering.

This form of treatment makes you think you are more important than every one else around you and that can turn you into a lonely brat.

D is for Destiny

What is destiny? Is it the end result of a journey or a notion to explain why things happen the way they do? I don't believe in destiny though, so why am I writing about it? When I think of a journey I think of making stops to enjoy myself so the trip doesn't feel so grueling.

I stopped at the Country Inn and Suites on Wednesday night to get a room so that I wouldn't exhaust myself driving all night. The receptionist behind the counter asked if I had a reservation and when I said I didn't but needed a room for the night, she told me they didn't have any vacancies. I asked her if there were some convention in town or anything and when she said there wasn't, I almost thought she gave me some sort of smirk and that kind of pissed me off. I went back out into the parking lot and called Country Inn and Suites, made a reservation, and returned to the same receptionist.

She asked me in a snide way if there was something else she could help me with and I said, "Yes, I have a reservation. I must have been destined to stay here this evening." I think she actually thought she was smarter than me.

C is for Creativity

Creativity makes me think of crafts only because me and Chelsey did some really interesting projects over the past week. I'll post some pictures for you at the end, oh and a video, because with creativity and crafts we invited curiosity. Those creatures who like to get into everything.

So here is my daughters nice craft ideas. Floating candle vases. Isn't that creative?!

And here is curiosity at play. We left the ferrets in the kitchen unsupervised for only a very short period of time...

So much for creativity!

B is for Barnacle

So what do I think of when I use the word barnacle...

Whales, the sperm ones. They are the largest whales in the world I think, but then they are called Sperm Whales and named Moby Dick in children's literature, or was that young adult? Whales because that's what barnacles grow on, they just attach to the hide and live there, and I think they are crustaceans. I guess you could actually eat them.

Did you know that the largest whale species, this sperm whale...haha ironic, but they eat the smallest living thing in the world, plankton. How do these whales grow so huge when that's all they eat? How much plankton must a whale eat to grow to be the biggest fish in the ocean? I'm asking YOU. The fat whale eats a light dinner of kale and splankton and then weighs over 15 million tons.

And how in the world do they not crave something more substantive than plankton? I mean how many plankton are in a huge whale bite? And does the whale inhale tons of sea water with her plankton meal? That would drive me crazy because how would you ever taste anything you are eating. Its like that asian beanpole eating all them hotdogs after soaking them in water so he can win the hotdog eating contests.

God, what a void...

A is for Aging

Gyad, aging. Very sensitive topic for a woman my age. I can't believe I'm 48. lol shorthanding
in my posts. I originally think of apples with the letter A so I tried to stay away from that connotion. Is that a word? Connotion...no, connotation. That's a word. I'll look it up later.
Apple seems so appropriate though because when it's what we remember when in what, Kindergarten? The apple with the little green caterpillar in the hole, the rotted out hole. Was it a worm or a caterpillar? I don't think caterpillars are apple eaters, but I never even saw a worm or caterpillar in an apple my entire life.

Go away apple, this is supposed to be aging. Getting old. Speaking of getting older, apples get older in media too. I remember Snow White and that apple being poisoned. The picture of the apple was less cartooney, more dark red and "seductive"! Slutty apple! So apples age in the media. Why is media on my mind? Old apples now have me thinking about the plate of fruit I decorated 2 weeks ago. Bananas, oranges, apples. Two weeks makes apples old. Aging and rotting go well together.

What about peeling apples and letting them dry out, putting decorations on them and creating shrunken voodoo heads? I just cleaned off my fruit platter! What a waste. The apples fell into the trashcan, taking along with it the film of old rotten syrup that built up on the bottom. Gross. Old apples!
